Crocodile Lounge Trivia Night

Crocodile Lounge Trivia Night

Crocodile Lounge is a terrific bar and it is therefore no surprise that the bar features a great weekly trivia night.  In fact it is one of the most well reviewed Quiz’s in the city, having recently been written up in the New York Post, Yelp, and various other sites.  In fact the only real issues the quiz has right now are the problems of over popularity.

The bar itself is a great place to hang out.  A good mix of sitting and standing room, combine with a decent selection of Draught Beer, Creative Bartenders ready to mix your favorite cocktail, or better yet make up something new and interesting right on the spot… oh yeah and you get a free cheese pizza with every drink!  Add to this a great little back room arcade complete with two SkeeBall lanes and you’re set for the night.

As for the quiz it happens every Wednesday night at 8:30 (Though with the crowd you really want to be there by 8) and is currently one of the best attended quizzes in town with an average of 20 some teams competing any given week.  It’s a little shorter than some other quizzes but since it’s a little more hardcore (you really can’t talk, goof around, check your iPhone[sadly there have been problems with cheating] etc, while the quiz is going on) you don’t mind that it’s only four rounds because you then get the rest of the night to hang out with friends, play Buck-Hunter, or hit on that hot chick in the corner that looks like Kaylee from “Firefly.” (Ok maybe that last bit is just wishful thinking, but there have to be some Jewel Staite look-a-likes out there right?  Or maybe Christina Hendricks?)

The quiz consists of four rounds of General Knowledge questions with a free shot question in between each round.  You will blast through all four rounds in just over an hour and then be free to hang out while you wait with bated breath for the quizmasters to tally the scores and say who the top three teams are.  Yes you heard me right…top three!  Unlike most every other quiz I have ever been to there is a prize for not just first, but second and third as well.

As you can see it’s a great night out.  The only trouble is that it can get exceptionally crowded…the hipster quotient can be quite high, and there’s almost always one awkward moment where some new douchebag yells an answer out or decides to try to cheat the system using his iPhone and has to get kicked out of the bar.  But all of this comes with the territory of being well reviewed, centrally located, and having a regular influx of new people trying it out.  Hopefully a lot of this will go away as soon as idiot reviewers stop telling new people about it…oh wait…
